Poised — The Honest AI Listener You Didn’t Know You Needed

Poised

Let’s be honest: most of us feel a bit insecure when we speak. Whether it’s a presentation, a meeting, a pitch, or even a casual call — we all want to sound confident, clear, and convincing.

The problem? It’s surprisingly hard to find someone who will really listen — and even harder to find someone who will give honest, constructive feedback without sugarcoating.

That’s where Poised comes in. Poised doesn’t try to be nice. It tries to be useful.

 What Is Poised, Really?

Poised is an AI communication coach that listens to how you speak and gives you structured feedback on your performance — in real time or after the fact.

It’s designed for presentations meetings, interviews, sales calls, public speaking practice. Instead of vague advice, Poised focuses on how you actually sound, not how you think you sound.

Poised breaks your performance down into multiple layers.

You get:

  • Performance scores (clarity, confidence, engagement, pacing, filler words, etc.)
  • Transcripts of what you said
  • Summaries of your key points
  • Actionable suggestions on what to improve next time
  • Insights over time, so you can see if you’re actually getting better

 Our Test

We tested Poised with a short, 2-minute speech.

Nothing fancy — just a realistic speaking scenario you might use to prepare for a presentation or a meeting. The results? Honestly, a bit better than we expected — but still very revealing.

Poised highlighted:

  • areas where the delivery was strong
  • moments of hesitation
  • pacing issues
  • clarity problems
  • repetitive phrasing

Even when the overall score looked decent, the tool still pointed out concrete mistakes. It didn’t let us completely off the hook — which is exactly the point.

How You Can Use Poised

One of Poised’s strengths is flexibility. You can use it in several ways:

  • Record yourself speaking before a presentation
  • Practice a pitch or speech on your own
  • Use it live during meetings or calls
  • Review conversations afterwards with detailed feedback

In other words, you can test yourself in private — or let Poised quietly observe you in real situations.

⚖️ What We Liked (and What We Didn’t)

What works really well:

Poised is direct, structured, and practical. It doesn’t just say “be more confident” — it shows you where and how you can improve.

It’s especially good at: identifying filler words, pointing out pacing problems, showing patterns you don’t notice yourself

Where it could be better:

As honest as Poised is… we still feel it could be a bit stricter. Sometimes the feedback feels slightly forgiving. It points out mistakes, yes — but doesn’t always push as hard as a truly ruthless human coach might.

Final Thoughts

Poised feels like a rare thing in the world of AI tools — an honest listener. Its interface is extremely intuitive, so you can start recording or joining meetings almost immediately, without setup friction or learning curves. During our short two-minute speech test, Poised delivered feedback that was clear, direct, and genuinely useful. The results were slightly better than we expected, but the tool didn’t hesitate to point out real weaknesses in delivery, pacing, and clarity.

That said, while Poised is refreshingly straightforward, it sometimes feels a bit too kind. We appreciate the constructive tone, but in moments it could be more ruthless — especially for users who want truly high-pressure performance coaching.

Overall, we give Poised a 4/5 on our LMAI scale. It’s intuitive, practical, and surprisingly helpful — but there’s still room for it to be a little tougher on us.
